All Big Walk Megaphone Locations (Patch 1.5 Updated List)

Updated 2026-09-03 · Steam Big Walk

There are three Big Walk megaphone locations on the island, and every one of them sits on top of a yellow stepped pedestal you cannot reach alone. The community Fandom wiki states the count plainly: the megaphone is a communication item that carries your voice much further than normal, found in three places, each on a yellow stepped pedestal. Players who mapped the spots report a northern cube tower, a forest position east of Green Tower, and a southern shore location near the purple-gourd puzzle area. All three need a teammate to boost you to the top.

The megaphone also changed recently. Patch 1.5.1 on 28 August 2026 lists one line that matters here: the item that amplifies your voice now reaches a farther distance. House House describes patch contents without naming items directly, but that entry is the megaphone, and it means any range advice written before late August understates what the item does now.

What the megaphone actually does

Proximity voice is the whole point of Big Walk. The Steam store page describes a system where voices fade with distance, echo down corridors and muffle through walls, and House House said in the 1.4.8 patch post that the drop-off distance is deliberate and specific, comparable to a jump height in a platformer. They explicitly declined to extend it when players asked.

The megaphone is the in-world answer to that limit. It pushes whatever you say into a much wider bubble than your unaided voice, which is why groups tend to park one at a rally point rather than carry it around. It is a broadcast tool, not a conversation tool: everyone in range hears you, and nobody talks back through it.

ItemRangeHow manyWhere it lives
MegaphoneWide broadcast bubble around the holder, extended in patch 1.5.13Yellow stepped pedestals, three fixed spots
Walkie-talkieTwo-way over long distance, player-reported as effectively unlimited8 totalFour holder sites, plus one extra unit on the platform under Blue Tower
Handheld radioNot communication; plays unlocked music channels1 plus channel transmittersCrosswalk, with 7 station transmitters
Unaided voiceShort, fixed proximity radiusn/aAlways on

Walkie-talkies are the better pick when two people need to coordinate across the map, and they are covered on radio locations alongside the music stations. The megaphone wins when one person needs to be heard by a whole scattered group at once.

All three megaphone locations

Every location below comes from a player-written Steam guide published in 2026 and cross-checked against the Fandom Items page for the count and the pedestal description. The guide's precise positioning is carried mainly in its screenshots, so the descriptions here are the text-level detail that is confirmed; treat them as directions to a landmark rather than exact coordinates.

3Southern shoreNear the purple-gourd puzzle areaChairlift, coastline or swim, then boostLongest trip

1. The northern cube tower

Players describe this one as the first megaphone most groups trip over, because the pedestal is out in the open on the northern side of the island rather than tucked into scenery. Approach it on foot, get a teammate under you, and go up. No unlock is needed, so a group can grab this megaphone long before the towers are done.

2. The forest pedestal east of Green Tower

Head east from Green Tower and the pedestal is in among the trees, partly screened by canopy. That cover is the whole difficulty: player accounts say groups run past it repeatedly while working on Green Tower puzzles. If you already have the map from the Map Room, this is an easy detour to plan; see towers for what each tower unlocks and where Green Tower sits.

3. The southern shore pedestal

The third sits on the southern shore, near the area with the purple-gourd challenge puzzles. Players report the chairlift makes the trip quicker but is not a requirement, since the same spot can be reached by following the coastline on foot or swimming around the southwestern edge. That matters if your group has not yet finished Green Tower, which is the key that turns the chairlift on. The puzzles near that shore are a separate job from the pickup, so there is no need to start solving anything just because you walked over for the megaphone.

Getting on top of the pedestal

The pedestals are stepped, but the top step is out of reach for a single player. The community-standard method is the one the 100 percent achievement guide describes for high ledges generally: have a teammate grab and lift you, and if one boost is not enough, chain the grabs back and forth to climb higher. Two players is the practical minimum for every megaphone on this list.

A few practical notes players raise repeatedly:

  • Decide before you climb who ends up holding the megaphone, because per the community Fandom wiki nobody can reach their own back: a second player has to load it onto or off a backpack once you are down again.
  • Patch 1.5.1 made it harder to clip through certain walls, so any climb shortcut that relied on squeezing past geometry is less reliable than it was in early August. Whether that affects a specific pedestal is not confirmed yet.
  • If your group has already unlocked transport, the chairlift and tunnels turn a three-megaphone sweep into a single loop rather than three separate hikes. The route options are laid out on map.

Carrying a megaphone, and what it blocks

The megaphone occupies a hand, and everyone agrees it can also ride on a backpack. The hip bag is where the sources split: the player-written Steam guides say a megaphone cannot go in a hip bag or belt slot because that slot is for small items such as radios and walkie-talkies, while the community Fandom wiki says the hip bag shares all of the backpack's functionality and differs only in where the item sits on the body. Until that is settled, plan a megaphone run around a hand or a backpack and treat the hip bag as unreliable.

Hip bag or beltDisputedPlayer guides say small items only; Fandom says it behaves like a backpack

Backpacks and hip bags are found in the blue ringed structures scattered around the island, and per both Fandom and the interactive map guide you cannot put anything on your own back: a second player has to do it. More on slots and carrying rules is on items and belt and inventory.

Is there a megaphone achievement?

No. Big Walk has 12 Steam achievements per the store page, and none of them involve the megaphone. The full set covers progression (Big Walk, Big View, Big Sit, Big Tunnel, Big Ride, Big Wall, Big Goodbye, Big Game) plus four others (Big Pack, Big Help, Big Climb, Big Makeover). Collecting all three megaphones unlocks nothing; it is a convenience, not a checklist item. The route through every real achievement is on achievements.

That said, the megaphone is genuinely useful for achievement hunting in a large group, because several of those unlocks require the whole party to converge on one spot. Announcing a regroup point through a megaphone beats trying to relay it player to player, and it costs nothing when the alternative is hand signals.

Sources and last check

Checked 3 September 2026. The count of three megaphones and the yellow stepped pedestal description come from the community Big Walk Fandom wiki Items page at big-walk-game.fandom.com. The three location descriptions, the boost requirement, the hold-or-backpack carry rule and the alternative routes to the southern shore spot are player-reported, taken from the 2026 Steam Community guide All Megaphone Locations in Big Walk; that guide carries much of its precision in screenshots, so this page states what is confirmed in its text and does not invent coordinates. Equipment-site categories, backpack and hip bag rules and tower unlock effects are player-reported from the interactive map guide; on the hip bag those guides and the Fandom Items page contradict each other, and this page reports the disagreement rather than choosing a side. The teammate-chaining climb technique is player-reported from the 100 percent achievement guide.

Official facts are separated out: the extended range of the voice-amplifying item and the wall-clipping fix come from the House House 1.5.1 patch notes dated 28 August 2026, the proximity voice design statement from the 1.4.8 announcement of 7 August 2026, and the 12-achievement total plus the proximity chat description from the Steam store page. No official source lists megaphone spawn points, so nothing on this page should be read as a developer-confirmed location.
