All Big Walk Radio Locations and What Each Radio Does

Updated 2026-09-03 · Steam Big Walk

There are two completely different things people mean by big walk radio locations. The first is the handheld radio, a music player you pick up at the Crosswalk, plus the seven fixed transmitters scattered around the island that each permanently unlock one channel on it. The second is the walkie-talkie, the paired item that actually lets two players talk at long range. Player-made location guides put the transmitter count at seven and the walkie-talkie count at eight units across five spots, and this page separates the two so you stop hunting for the wrong object.

Nothing below is an official House House location list. House House has never published a collectible map, so every coordinate here is player-tested and community-mapped, mostly from the Steam location guides checked on 3 September 2026.

Radio, radio station, walkie-talkie: what is what

Four separate objects get called "the radio" in chat, and mixing them up costs a lot of walking.

ObjectPortable? What it actually doesWhere it comes from
Handheld radioYes, small itemPlays music on any channel you have unlockedPicked up at the Crosswalk, per the radio station guide
Radio station (transmitter)No, fixedInteract once to permanently unlock its channelSeven of them, hidden in music-themed landmarks
Field RadioNo, fixedReplays stations you already ownSits at the Crosswalk; players report it gives no hint toward missing ones
Walkie-talkieYes, hand itemVoice and text between two players at effectively unlimited rangePaired blue and yellow units at holder sites

The community Fandom describes the handheld radio the same way: it plays music on channels you unlock by finding the larger music radios out in the world and switching them on. It is a jukebox, not a comms device. If you want to reach a friend three ridgelines away, you want a walkie-talkie or a megaphone, both covered on items and megaphone locations.

All seven Big Walk radio station locations

Locations below are paraphrased from the "All Radio Station Locations" Steam guide, updated for 2026 and checked on 3 September 2026. These are player-tested descriptions rather than developer data, and one entry is genuinely incomplete in our sources.

NumberAreaHow players describe finding itPrerequisite
1CrosswalkThe handheld radio and the first transmitter sit together, on a spot overlooking the waterNone
2Southern mountainCheck the mountain music area itself, and the ground immediately behind itNone; a rope bridge and the chairlift both reach the spot
3Near Red TowerIn a green-lit stretch beside a large orange archNone
4Not confirmed yetOur sources did not capture this one; the guide lists seven total but the fourth spot was not recordedNot confirmed yet
5Yellow TunnelIgnore the main run toward Red Tower, take the early right fork hugging the wall, then a staircase down into a hidden neon dance-floor roomYellow Tower must be finished first
6Near Green TowerHead northwest from the tower and drop downhill until you reach a group of light blue platformsNone
7West of Yellow TowerBeside a flat red-and-pink grid structure out toward the map edgeNone

Two practical notes from that guide. Only station 5 has a hard gate: the Yellow Tower key opens the tunnel network, so that transmitter is unreachable until the tunnels are on. Everything else can be collected in whatever order your group happens to wander in, which suits a game where nobody agrees on a destination. Tower unlock order and what each key opens are on towers.

Seven tunable channels, one per transmitter, is the figure the player location guides agree on. House House has not published a channel count of its own, so treat seven as community consensus rather than a verified number.

Unlocking and carrying channels

The loop is simple once you know it: find a transmitter, interact, and that channel is yours for good on the handheld radio. There is no per-session reset described in any source.

Carrying is the fiddly part. The community Fandom's Items page describes two bag types that solve it. A backpack rides on a teammate's back and stores one extra item without occupying either of their hands; a hip bag does the same job from the waist. Both are found in the blue ringed structures dotted around the island, and neither can be worked by the person wearing it, so a teammate has to load or unload whatever is inside. That is the practical reason a group of four usually ends up with one designated radio carrier.

Patch 1.5.1 on 28 August 2026 added separate volume sliders for different audio categories, which is the official change most relevant here — you can turn radio music down without flattening your friends' voices.

Long-range communication: what actually reaches

Big Walk's proximity voice deliberately drops off at a set distance. House House addressed this directly in the 1.4.8 patch post on 7 August 2026: the patch made quiet microphones louder overall, but the developers said they did not change the distance at which voices fade, calling that falloff a deliberate part of the design, like a jump height in a platformer. So the tools below are the intended answer, not a workaround.

ToolRangeCostNotes
Proximity voiceShort, fixed by designFreeUnchanged by 1.4.8; only the loudness improved
Walkie-talkieEffectively unlimited, two playersYour one hand slotVoice and text, per the walkie-talkie guide
MegaphoneExtended broadcast, one-wayHeld or backpack-mountedPatch 1.5.1 states it now reaches farther
Flare gunLine of sightHand itemFires a flare that marks your position; also a light source
Laser pointerLine of sightHand itemBeam into the sky to show where you are; found atop towers and in the Map Room
WhiteboardWherever it is readFixedTyped text, mostly outside the Map Room
Hand signalsLine of sightFreeThe fallback when nobody has a radio

The community Fandom makes the same point from the player side: the map is large and the voice range is short, so getting separated is normal and regrouping via flares, fireworks and walkie-talkies is part of the design rather than a failure.

Walkie-talkie holder locations

Since this is what most people actually want when they search for radios, here is the summary from the walkie-talkie Steam guide, again player-tested and checked 3 September 2026.

Holder siteUnits
BeachOne paired set, blue and yellow
Back Beach HillOne paired set
Ocean TreasureOne paired set
PeakOne paired set
Platform beneath Blue TowerOne bonus unit

That totals eight units. Players report that a dropped or lost unit respawns near the holder it came from, so losing one over a cliff is annoying rather than permanent. A walkie-talkie takes your single hand slot, meaning you cannot hold one and binoculars at the same time without a bag — which is why the guide recommends pairing a walkie-talkie carrier with a binoculars carrier and splitting a set between them. The Fandom adds the mechanical detail that transmission works like the real thing: hold the button to talk, and if both people hold their button at once, neither hears the other.

The classic use is a vertical split. One player climbs a tower for the view, the other stays on the ground and walks toward whatever gets described. See map for what is worth pointing at.

When nobody has a radio

There is a dedicated Steam guide, "Hand Signals for Long Range Communication With No Radios", built around a signal chart that orders letters by how common they are so you decode from the top of the chart downward. The chart itself is an image, so this wiki does not reproduce it; the concept is what matters, and it is one groups reinvent constantly.

Whichever chart your group settles on, the part that actually saves time is agreeing on it before you split up rather than improvising halfway through a puzzle, and keeping the same signals in use instead of inventing a fresh scheme for every situation. None of that is an official mechanic — it is ordinary player habit, and the full breakdown is on hand signals.

Sources and last check

Checked 3 September 2026. The seven transmitter locations, the Crosswalk pickup, the Yellow Tower prerequisite on station 5, the seven-channel count and the Field Radio's replay-only behaviour come from the "All Radio Station Locations in Big Walk (2026 UPDATED)" Steam guide. Walkie-talkie holder sites, the eight-unit total, respawn behaviour and the one-hand-slot limit come from the "All Walkie-Talkie Locations in Big Walk (2026 UPDATED)" guide. The signal-chart section comes from the "Hand Signals for Long Range Communication With No Radios" guide. Item behaviour for the handheld radio, walkie-talkie, megaphone, flare gun, laser pointer and whiteboard, plus the backpack and hip bag rules, comes from the community Fandom Items page.

All of those are player-written and player-tested, including every location description and the missing station 4, which is marked not confirmed yet rather than guessed. The only official facts on this page are from House House's own Steam announcements: the 1.5.1 notes of 28 August 2026 (separate audio category volume sliders, the voice-amplifying item reaching farther) and the 1.4.8 post of 7 August 2026 (quiet voices made louder, voice falloff distance deliberately unchanged). Those are summarised on patch notes.
